Gaza - Saba:
Three Palestinian police officers and two civilians were martyred after their vehicle was directly targeted by Zionist enemy aircraft while they were carrying out a security mission west of Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
In a press statement issued on Thursday evening, the Ministry of Interior and National Security in Gaza said: "A police force was on a field mission pursuing a group of thieves and enemy collaborators in the Asdaa area when their vehicle was directly targeted by an airstrike, resulting in the martyrdom of three officers and two other civilians present at the scene."
The ministry affirmed that the security system in Gaza continues to fulfill its duties toward citizens despite Israel’s repeated and systematic targeting of security personnel and their facilities. It added: "The daily bombardment and killings will not succeed in breaking our will or deterring us from protecting our people."
Earlier on Thursday, the Ministry of Interior and National Security in Gaza stated that the enemy seeks to spread chaos and destabilize Gaza by repeatedly targeting police and security personnel.
This came in a statement commenting on a massacre committed by the Zionist army earlier today, when it bombed a gathering of civilians in Deir al-Balah market in central Gaza, killing 18 Palestinians, including police and security officers.
The statement said: "The Ministry of Interior and National Security condemns the Israeli enemy’s commission of a new massacre by targeting police and security officers while they were performing their duty of organizing the Deir al-Balah market and pursuing thieves who attempted to assault citizens’ property this afternoon, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of a large number of civilians, including police officers and personnel."
It added that the enemy insists on its "malicious schemes" and seeks to spread chaos and destabilize Gaza by repeatedly targeting police and security personnel "to deter them from performing their duty of protecting the internal front and confronting armed gangs operating under its command."
The ministry stressed that this targeting "will not achieve its goals," and that security forces will continue to pursue thieves and collaborators with the enemy, striking them with an iron fist, and taking all necessary measures to support citizens’ resilience and maintain civil peace in Gaza.
