Beijing - Saba:
China has used technology to deploy several remote sensing satellites to capture images of the earthquake-hit areas in Xicang Autonomous Region in southwest China after a 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck the region's Dingri County yesterday morning.

The China Satellite Data and Application Center said in a statement on Wednesday that eight satellites have been mobilized, noting that it will add more satellites with higher resolution to capture images in order to provide more accurate information on the post-quake situation.

The Remote Sensing Satellite Application Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources has also mobilized at least three satellites to capture images of the earthquake-hit areas.

The death toll from the earthquake has risen to 126, with 188 others injured.

The Xinhua News Agency reported that 126 people were killed and 188 others injured as a result of the earthquake that rocked Dingri Canton.

A report issued by the China Earthquake Networks Center stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was monitored at the intersection of 28.5 degrees north latitude and 87.45 degrees east longitude, at a depth of ten kilometers.
