UNRWA suspends services in Jenin camp due to ongoing clashes

Jenin - Saba:
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) announced today, Saturday, the suspension of its services in Jenin camp, north of the occupied West Bank, due to the continued security tension for the tenth consecutive day in the city of Jenin and its camp.

According to the Palestinian Information Center, UNRWA's decision came hours after the Palestinian Authority security services assassinated one of the leaders of the Jenin battalion, Yazid Jaaysah, during its ongoing aggression on Jenin camp in the northern occupied West Bank, where clashes and armed confrontations with the Palestinian resistance prevail.

Roland Frederick, director of UNRWA affairs in the West Bank, confirmed through his account on the "X" platform the suspension of UNRWA services in Jenin camp due to "the continued operation of the Palestinian security forces there and the exchange of fire with Palestinian militants" according to him.

Since 4 a.m. today, violent clashes have been taking place in the Jenin refugee camp after a large force of PA security forces entered the camp from three main axes and deployed snipers on some buildings.

Mr. Yazid Jaayisa, a prominent leader of Jenin Battalion, was shot dead by the PA security forces, and was wanted by the Zionist enemy forces for more than four years, and they tried to assassinate him repeatedly.

Local sources said: Local sources said that the Authority's security snipers fired at pedestrians in the streets and at houses, causing four injuries among children and women, including serious cases, including the boy Ahmed Marei.

This coincided with a siege imposed by the PA security forces on hospitals in Jenin to arrest the injured from the camp.

The PA security services had previously rejected local initiatives to defuse tensions and stop the bloodshed. Citing a "political decision" to stop the phenomenon of resistance in Jenin camp.

This policy and the repeated targeting of the camp have sparked widespread anger among Jenin residents, who see what is happening as an escalation not against the resistance, but against the camp, without distinguishing between resistance fighters and the camp's civilian population.

For the tenth consecutive day, tension prevails in the city of Jenin and its camp, where armed clashes between the PA security forces and the Jenin Battalion continue in conjunction with the imposition of a siege on the camp.
