Senator Sanders seeks to block $20 billion in military aid to Zionist entity

Washington - Saba:
Axios news website revealed on Wednesday that Senator Bernie Sanders will force the US Senate to vote on resolutions to prevent sending offensive weapons next week to the Zionist enemy entity, valued at more than 20 billion dollars.

According to multiple sources, the Senate is likely to vote against these resolutions, but Axios believes that this move will give a good impression of how strong the sentiment against the Zionist genocidal war in Gaza Strip is among members of the Democratic Party within the largest legislative body in the United States.

According to Axios, the resolutions Sanders will raise next week would prevent President Joe Biden's administration from sending billions of dollars in offensive aid to Israel.

The current US administration has been reluctant to withhold weapons, announcing on Tuesday that it would not follow through on its ultimatum to cut off aid if the humanitarian situation in Gaza does not improve.

According to the American website, Sanders was joined by Senators Peter Welch and Jeff Merkley in introducing resolutions to block the arms sales.

Earlier this month, a National Interest report criticized US spending on Israel's wars in Gaza and Lebanon. Noting that it exceeded the budgets of the Centers for Disease Control and the Environmental Protection Agency combined, it also denounced the US policy of supporting destabilizing allies in the Middle East and urged efforts to be directed towards finding peaceful solutions.

Brown University's Costs of War Project report showed that the bill for US support for Netanyahu's wars, along with the cost of its operations in the region, exceeded $22.76 billion since the beginning of the genocidal war in Gaza.
