The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that its air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed 48 Ukrainian drones over various Russian regions.
In a statement, the ministry said: “Between 14:20 and 19:30 Moscow time, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 48 Ukrainian UAVs.”
It added that:
- 13 drones were downed over Kaluga Oblast,
- 10 over Bryansk Oblast,
- 9 over Moscow Oblast, including 6 headed toward the capital,
- 6 over both Belgorod and Smolensk Oblasts,
- 2 over Leningrad Oblast,
- and 1 each over Kursk and Novgorod Oblasts.
The Russian ministry reiterated that Ukrainian armed forces have been targeting Russian border regions—including Crimea, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, and Voronezh—almost daily with drones and missiles, aiming to terrorize civilians.
