Sana’a - SABA:

The regular board meeting of the Cardiac and Catheterization Center at Al-Kuwait University Hospital was held today at Sana’a University, chaired by University President and Board Chairman, Dr. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti.

The meeting brought together key university officials, including Assistant President for Medical Colleges Dr. Abdulhafid Thawabah, Assistant President for Scientific Centers Dr. Zaid Al-Warith, Assistant President for Media Affairs Adel Al-Habbabi, and Director of the Cardiac Center Dr. Salah Al-Shawki. The session focused on mechanisms to enhance the center’s performance and improve both its medical and research services.

Dr. Al-Shawki presented a report detailing the outcomes of his recent visits to several European cardiac centers. He announced agreements enabling Al-Kuwait Hospital’s Cardiac Center to participate in joint scientific studies and publish its research in reputable European journals.

The board approved the formation of a committee to evaluate the center’s solar and electrical power systems and another to review patient intake procedures and service fees, ensuring they align with humanitarian considerations and leadership directives to offer high-quality care to the underprivileged.

A partnership agreement with the Zakat Authority was also approved, aiming to support patients unable to afford treatment. The Zakat Authority will oversee this initiative to ensure transparency and fairness. The meeting also called for the expedited development of a dedicated website for the center within the university’s official site.

The board instructed the immediate submission of a staffing needs plan to the university administration to proceed with recruitment in accordance with applicable regulations. Additionally, it approved draft documents for new diploma programs in echocardiography and cardiac nursing, pending academic ratification.

Preparations are also underway for a scientific day event on cardiovascular disease and catheterization, scheduled for August at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The board also discussed the potential for organizing a broader scientific conference in the near future.

The board expressed its appreciation for the support of the Capital Municipality, particularly its funding of new medical equipment including an electrocardiograph and a coronary artery imaging device. This step reflects institutional commitment to advancing healthcare services.

Dr. Al-Bukhaiti praised the dedication of the center’s staff and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing all necessary resources and equipment to help the center fulfill its humanitarian mission. He also emphasized the need for a clear administrative and financial framework to ensure professional handling of incoming cases.

Dr. Al-Shawki commended the university president’s support for various initiatives at the center, including the launch of the catheterization unit, the dialysis unit, the “Stent for Life” project, and the alternative energy project. He highlighted that the center now accommodates 100 beds, up from just four previously.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials from both the university and the cardiac center at Al-Kuwait University Hospital.
