WASHINGTON August 10. 2024 (Saba) -The Biden administration has reneged the decision to sanction the Israeli Nitseh Yehuda battalion involved in mass violations and killing a Palestinian with U.S. nationality in the West Bank two years ago, the department of state said late on Friday.

Washington decided to not impose sanctions against the battalion, Secretary of State Antony Blinken told the Zionist defense minister, Yoav Gallant.

Consisting of Haridem soldiers, the Israeli battalion has been investigated by the Department of State since 2022 in the aftermath of violent acts against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, and over charges of killing Omar Asa'ad (80) in 2022.

While he admitted that the battalion had committed serious violations against human rights, Blinken thinks that the occupier's army has taken steps enough to correct the situation and provided evidence that the two soldiers involved in the killing were excluded from combat missions.
