SANA'A August 06. 2024 (Saba) -Sana'a Emergency Committee convened on Tuesday, led by governor undersecretary for Services Sector and Vice Chairman of the Committee Fares al-Kuhali to discuss coordination efforts for emergency interventions to address rain flood damages.

The meeting focused on providing emergency equipment, establishing a joint operations room, and creating a mechanism for cataloging and prioritizing flood damage data for timely interventions.

Preliminary reports on recent flood damages affecting several districts were reviewed, emphasizing the role of each entity in addressing these issues.

Discussions included enhancing the effectiveness of emergency teams from the Executive Unit for Projects, the Public Works Office, the Cleaning and Improvement Fund, and Civil Defense in road clearing and flood water drainage.

The necessity of coordination among all parties to ensure a swift response to flood-related challenges, protect citizens, and preserve infrastructure and agricultural lands was highlighted.

The committee also outlined tasks for various offices, including public health, population, agriculture, finance, zakat, endowments, security, environmental protection, tourism, rural water, neighborhood affairs, media, joint operations, the Humanitarian Affairs Council branch, and the Red Crescent. Each was urged to prepare and implement measures within their capacities.

Joint tasks were discussed to mitigate the risks of flooding in homes and properties, and to develop emergency solutions to minimize damage to lives and property.

Undersecretary al-Kuhali emphasized the importance of enhanced coordination among the relevant authorities to implement emergency measures and conduct maintenance on damaged roads to reduce flood impact.

He called for heightened readiness given the ongoing rainfall, aiming to minimize losses and limit damage to roads, buildings, and agricultural lands.
