LONDON June 12. 2024 (Saba) - The Guardian newspaper revealed today - quoting official British data - that the government issued more than 100 arms export licenses to Israel between October 7 and May 31.
The newspaper explained that Britain has not rejected any arms license request for Israel since the outbreak of the war on the Gaza Strip.
37 licenses out of 100 licenses were described as military, and 63 licenses as non-military, and this number may include communications equipment used by the Israeli army.
Eight additional open licenses were also granted, bringing the total licenses to 108.
There are currently 345 licenses to sell weapons to Israel, including those issued before October 7.
The Department of Business issued these figures in response to what it described as exceptional parliamentary interest.
The statistics showed that no arms export license request has been rejected or cancelled since the outbreak of the Israeli aggression on the Strip.
But according to Emily Apple, of the Campaign Against Arms Trade, the figures do not reveal the value of arms export licences or the detailed category, just the number.
The value of arms export licences is usually included in quarterly arms export licence statistics.
In three separate decisions in December, April and May, ministers rejected calls to suspend arms exports to Israel.
Ministers explained that their decisions were in line with legal advice.
