Gaza - (Saba):
The Government Media Office in Gaza announced that the number of journalists martyred since the beginning of the genocide against the Gaza Strip has risen to 216, following the killing of journalist Hassan Marzouq Sammour.
Sammour, who worked as a broadcaster and program host at Voice of Al-Aqsa Radio, was assassinated by an Israeli airstrike that targeted him and members of his family early Thursday morning in eastern Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Media Office strongly condemned the systematic targeting, killing, and assassination of Palestinian journalists by the Israeli occupation. It called on the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all journalistic bodies around the world to denounce these crimes against Palestinian journalists and media professionals in Gaza.
The office held the Israeli occupation, the U.S. administration, and countries complicit in the genocide—such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and France—fully responsible for this heinous and brutal crime.
It also urged the international community and relevant international organizations, particularly those concerned with journalism and media, to condemn Israel’s crimes, hold it accountable in international courts, and bring the perpetrators of these ongoing violations to justice.
Furthermore, the Media Office called for serious and effective pressure to end the genocide, protect journalists and media workers in Gaza, and stop the deliberate killing and assassination of media professionals.
