SANA'A January 03. 2023 (Saba) - The Ministry of Human Rights organized on Tuesday a press conference on the crimes and violations of the Saudi regime of the Yemeni expatriates' rights.

At the press conference, Minister of Human Rights Ali al-Dailami reviewed a number of the most prominent crimes of the Saudi regime committed in recent years against the Yemeni expatriates, which claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent people, the last of which took place last Thursday, December 29, 2022, that is the execution of 2 Yemeni youths, Muhammad Muqbil al-Wasel, 27, from Dhamar province and Shaja'a Salah Mahdi Jamil, 29, from Ibb province.

Al-Dailami explained that the 2 Yemeni youths were executed without any charge and fair trial. They have not been able to defend themselves and communicate with their families, only half an hour before the execution.

The two young men were detained more than 12 years ago, while entering Saudi Arabia for the purpose of work, as they were still juveniles,15 and 17 years only, which makes their execution illegal, he said.

Al-Dailami said that the Saudi authorities are detaining thousands of Yemeni expatriates arbitrarily, and without any legal justification in overcrowded prisons that are unfit for human life and lack of the minimum human and health standards.

He added that dozens of detainees are being brought before courts without any charges or cases for having committed criminal offenses, which indicates that the Saudi regime is not committed to the provisions of Islamic Sharia, nor to the international or customary laws and covenants.

Al-Dailami pointed out that the detained Yemeni expatriates in the Saudi prisons are suffering from the worst types of torture, humiliation and abuse, and are threatened with death sentences, in addition to not being able to contact their families and inform them of their fate, preventing them from their right to defend themselves, confiscating their property after their execution, preserving their bodies, and refusing to hand them over to their families.

He stated that the ministry is preparing a year-end report on all violations committed by the Saudi regime against the Yemenis.

Al-Dailami added that the clear politicization of the humanitarian file in general affected all international roles, as well as the absence of impartial and serious international investigations in the investigation of the continuous Saudi violations of humanitarian laws, despite the condemnations and expressions of concern, regret or shock, expressed by the United Nations and its bodies, in light of the reports that were issued between From time to time from the United Nations bodies, and reveal part of the criminal truth and the black record of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in human rights and its brutal treatment of prisons and mass executions.

A number of speeches were delivered by emphasized in their entirety the brutality of the Saudi regime against Yemeni expatriates and stripping it of all religious and human morals.

They called on the United Nations and the International Red Cross to play their part and to conduct an investigation with the Saudi authorities about the extrajudicial execution and to hand over the bodies to their families.

The press conference issued a statement calling on the Human Rights Council and the Security Council to form an independent parallel committee to visit prisons, investigate facts and investigate all the violations that expatriates are exposed to in Saudi prisons and save their lives from extrajudicial executions, as well as calling on the International Committee of the Red Cross to work in accordance with its humanitarian principles.

The statement also called on the International Committee of the International Red Cross to obtain the bodies of the two victims and to bury them with their families, calling on the High Commissioner and the Human Rights Council to take the necessary measures for all human rights violations and crimes committed by the Saudi regime against the Yemeni people in general and against expatriates and prisoners in particular.

It called on the Human Rights Council to hold an extraordinary meeting to discuss the violations and crimes of the Saudi regime against Yemeni expatriates and to approve the formation of a fact-finding committee to investigate all crimes committed by the Saudi regime, calling on the High Commissioner to monitor and document all crimes and violations committed by the Saudi regime against the Yemeni expatriates, Africans and displaced persons and presented them to the Human Rights Council.
