[10/August/2022]

IBB, Aug. 10 (Saba) - A meeting in Ibb province chaired by the Secretary-General of the Local Council of the Ibb province Amin a-Wurafi discussed on Wednesday th activities and projects of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the province.

The meeting reviewed the committee’s interventions in the areas of water, health and environmental sanitation, and the provision of support to the central reformatory in the province center as well as the possibility of expanding the committee’s activity in the province to include more sectors directly related to the lives of citizens and displaced people.

The meeting listened to the report of Director of the Hygiene Fund in Ibb Khaled Ghaleb on the urgent needs to enhance the fund's ability to keep pace with the increase in population density, urban expansion and the continued flow of waves of displacement in the province.

Al-Wurafi praised the interventions and projects of the ICRC in the province and its provision of assistance that contribute to alleviating the suffering of the people, calling on the Committee to expand its activities in the humanitarian and service fields and increase the support provided to the hygiene fund.

In turn, the director of ICRC province Lorena Martin praised the facilities provided by the leadership of Ibb to implement the humanitarian and service projects of the committee, stressing the continuation of support for health, water and hygiene projects in the governorate.

Martin pointed out that the committee focuses on the humanitarian needs and emergency services requiring the water, health and hygiene sectors to prepare lists of the necessary projects so that the committee can identify and provide the necessary support to implement them according to priority.
