Jakarta – Saba:
A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia today, Sunday.
According to Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency, the quake’s epicenter was located in the sea, 18 kilometers west of the “Seluma” area on the island of Sumatra, at a depth of 23 kilometers.
No reports have emerged of casualties or damage from the earthquake.
Indonesia regularly experiences earthquakes as it sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where multiple tectonic plates meet, causing frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
