Mexico - Saba:
Palestinian karate player Maryam Bisharat won the gold medal at the World Karate League Youth on Saturday, which was held in Monterrey, Mexico, with the participation of more than 800 players from 59 countries around the world.
Bisharat began her journey in the first group of the under-66 kg kumite category, where she achieved a well-deserved victory over her American counterpart. She then secured her qualification for the semi-finals by defeating her Mexican rival, securing her place in the semi-finals.
Bisharat faced a tough match in the semi-finals, which she won against a Croatian player, setting up a final against her Dutch counterpart. This continued her winning streak, which led her to the podium and the gold medal.
This achievement adds to Basharat's string of accomplishments over the past years. The Palestinian national team player has previously won six medals in World Championships, including four gold, one silver, and one bronze.
Last year, Basharat also won a gold medal at the World Championships in Italy, as well as a gold medal at the Asian Championships in the Philippines, placing her at the top of the international rankings for the women's cadet category in the over-61 kg weight category.
