The Russian presidency announced on Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin briefed Chinese President Xi Jinping on the main outcomes of his talks with US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff on August 6.
The presidency said in a statement: "Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping. In the spirit of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction between the two countries, the Russian President briefed the Chinese President on the main outcomes of his conversation on August 6 with US Special Presidential Envoy Steven Witkoff."
Xi Jinping thanked Putin for the information regarding his meeting with Witkoff and expressed his support for a long-term Ukrainian settlement.
According to the Kremlin press office, Putin and Xi Jinping discussed the main issues on the agenda, including preparations for Putin's upcoming visit to China.
The statement added: The two presidents also discussed some current issues on the bilateral and international agendas, including preparations for Vladimir Putin's upcoming visit to China to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, and the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japanese militarism and the end of World War II.
