New York - Saba:
UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed his deep concern on Friday over the Israeli government's decision to "take control of Gaza City."
In a tweet on "X" platform, the Secretary-General considered, "This decision represents a dangerous escalation and risks exacerbating the already disastrous consequences for millions of Palestinians and may put more lives at risk, including those of the remaining prisoners."
He stressed that "the Israeli government's plan to take full control of the occupied Gaza Strip must cease immediately. It contradicts the ruling of the International Court of Justice regarding the need for Israel to end its occupation as soon as possible."
Earlier in the day, the Israeli government's security cabinet approved the occupation of Gaza City and the expansion of the aggression in the Strip.
