The martyrdom of a former Palestinian national team player brings the number of sports martyrs to 660.
The former Palestinian national football team player, Suleiman Al-Obeid, was martyred today, Wednesday, by Israeli occupation forces in Gaza City. Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced the martyrdom of Al-Obeid, 41, while waiting for aid.
With the martyrdom of Al-Obeid, the number of Palestinian sports martyrs has risen to 660 since the beginning of the genocide perpetrated by the Israeli enemy army in the Gaza Strip. Thirty-nine athletes and scouts were martyred in the Gaza Strip last July, according to the Palestinian News Agency, WAFA.
Al-Obeid, who began his career with the Khadamat Al-Shati Club, previously played with Al-Amari Club in the West Bank Premier League. He scored his first international goal for the Palestine national team against the Yemeni national team during the 2010 West Asian Football Federation Championship. He also represented the Palestinian national team in the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers and the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
