Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radwan al-Rubai met with Head of the General Authority for the Development of Tihama Ali Haza’a to review the implementation progress of the agricultural expansion program. The initiative includes creating a comprehensive farmer database and organizing them into field schools.
During the meeting, attended by the Director of the Southern Agricultural Region, Eng. Yahya Hatim, the minister received an analysis of the needs of farmers aiming to expand cultivation of priority crops, particularly grains and legumes.
Dr. al-Rubai emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts with agricultural cooperatives and stated the program aligns with directives from the revolutionary leadership and the Government of National Salvation to enhance food self-sufficiency.
Ali Haza’a noted that 128,747 farmers and livestock breeders have been surveyed and organized into field schools with support from agricultural cooperatives and development facilitators.
He added that the needs of 11,716 farmers interested in expanding priority crops have been identified by district, and the authority is ready to proceed to the next phases of the program.
