Gaza - Saba:
Two Palestinian children, Yousef Al-Safadi from northern Gaza Strip and Abdel-Hamid Al-Ghalban from Khan Younis in the south, were martyred due to malnutrition and famine.
According to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), medical sources said on Tuesday morning that 23 citizens, including children in various areas of the Strip, have died from malnutrition over the past two days.
Hospitals in the Gaza Strip are dealing with hundreds of patients of various ages suffering from severe hunger and malnutrition, many of whom are in critical exhaustion.
The same sources indicated that 17,000 children are suffering from acute malnutrition, and that hospitals are treating patients experiencing exhaustion and memory loss resulting from extreme hunger. Hospitals lack sufficient medical beds and medicines to accommodate the overwhelming number of malnutrition cases.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) had earlier warned that malnutrition among children under the age of five had doubled between March and June due to the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip.
UNRWA stated that its health centers and medical points conducted nearly 74,000 screenings for children during this period to detect malnutrition, identifying approximately 5,500 cases of severe acute malnutrition and more than 800 cases of very severe acute malnutrition.
