Representatives of Iran, Russia, and China are holding a trilateral meeting in Tehran on Tuesday regarding the Iranian nuclear issue. This comes amid reports of a possible resumption of negotiations between Tehran and Washington, in addition to Iran's upcoming meeting with the "Troika" (European trio) in Istanbul.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said, "Trilateral consultations with Russia and China will be held in the Iranian capital to discuss the nuclear issue and the possibility of reimposing sanctions."
The talks are taking place amid reports of a possible resumption of dialogue between Tehran and Washington, as well as an upcoming meeting between Iran and European countries in Istanbul.
The meeting will be held to discuss the Iranian nuclear issue following the outbreak of a 12-day war between Iran and Israel in June.
According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Tehran has no plans to hold talks with Washington yet, while US President Donald Trump has declared "Iran's interest" in resuming dialogue with the United States.
However, Iran succeeded in agreeing to hold consultations on its nuclear program with the three European Union countries (France, Germany, and Britain).
