Gaza - Saba:
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported 45 cases of acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) during June and July 2025, marking an unprecedented rise in such cases.
In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the ministry warned that due to the inability to conduct proper diagnostics, these cases could be either polio or Guillain-Barré syndrome.
This surge is attributed to the catastrophic environmental and health conditions in Gaza, including: water pollution, collapsed sanitation services, waste accumulation, the spread of infectious diseases, malnutrition, and weakened immunity.
Gaza's health authorities issued an urgent humanitarian appeal, calling on the international community, global institutions, and humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately to halt the aggression, save the collapsing healthcare system, and improve living conditions.
Gaza's health system has been on the verge of total collapse since the start of the Israeli aggression in October, under a suffocating blockade that prevents the entry of medical equipment, fuel, and medicines, along with the continuous suspension of critical patient transfers for treatment outside the enclave.
