Gaza - Saba:
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) revealed that the current aid distribution mechanism in the Gaza Strip “is not working at all,” calling for a return to the previous system, which allowed the entry of hundreds of trucks daily carrying food and essential supplies.
Juliette Touma, UNRWA’s Director of Communications, said in press statements on Tuesday evening that the UN agency continues to provide vital services to Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, despite the obstacles imposed by the Zionist enemy, including its refusal to issue visas for international staff.
She pointed out that around 6,000 aid trucks loaded with medicine, food, and essential supplies are stranded just steps away from the Gaza border and stressed the urgent need to allow them entry immediately.
Touma added that the new food distribution system overseen by the so-called “Gaza Institution” is “not working at all,” noting that, at best, only four distribution points are currently operating, whereas before the war, UNRWA operated over 400 distribution centers across the entire Strip.
