The activities of the free medical camp for mental and neurological disorders, targeting the most vulnerable groups, concluded on Wednesday at Al-Thawra General Hospital in Hodeida province.
Over two days, the camp aimed to provide examination, diagnosis, and free medication services for targeted patients suffering from mental and neurological disorders in the province. It also offered necessary health consultations and recommendations by specialized teams, including clinical nutritionists and clinical pharmacists.
Dr. Khaled Ahmed Suhail, Chairman of the Hospital Authority, explained that the camp served 324 cases of various age groups, including 154 cases on the first day and 170 on the second day. Patients received accurate examinations and diagnoses, along with free medications, psychological support, nutritional and pharmaceutical care.
He noted that the camp responds to an urgent community need amid limited mental health services, reflecting the authority’s vision to expand free specialized healthcare in line with its ongoing commitment to patients and society.
Dr. Suhail emphasized the authority’s dedication to continuing humanitarian , health programs and its readiness to implement similar initiatives across multiple medical fields to alleviate citizens' suffering and achieve comprehensive care goals.
He praised the efforts of the participating medical, technical, and administrative staff, as well as supporters from the public and private sectors, stressing that such collaboration reflects a sense of social responsibility and enhances institutional and humanitarian performance amid current challenges.
For his part, the camp director, Dr. Adel Jubran, stated that the camp represented a qualitative leap in mental and neurological healthcare by combining medical examinations with psychological and nutritional support, ensuring comprehensive and effective patient care.
He pointed out that the large turnout indicates growing public awareness of mental health importance, paving the way for more specialized initiatives. He called for sustained support and periodic repetition of such efforts across various districts.
Dr. Jubran highlighted that the integrated team played a key role in the camp’s success through meticulous organization, disciplined performance, and multidisciplinary coordination, strengthening public trust in the camp and its services.
This camp is part of a series of specialized health activities carried out by Al-Thawra Hospital Authority in Hodeidah, aiming to expand free medical services and reach underprivileged groups amid economic and humanitarian challenges.
