The Palestinian Commission of Prisoners' and Ex-Prisoners' Affairs stated that three prisoners are suffering from deliberate medical neglect in Janot Prison.
According to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), the Commission explained in its report, issued today, Monday, that its lawyers visited a number of sick prisoners, including: the case of prisoner Ziad Bazar (50 years old) from the town of Beitlu/Ramallah, who was arrested on July 1, 2004 and sentenced to 23 years in prison. He has been suffering from severe toothaches and needs new glasses, as the lenses he currently has are no longer suitable for his vision.
Prisoner Abdullah Barghouthi, 31, from Kobar, Ramallah, suffers from sclerotis, but his condition is stable.
The prisoner was arrested on May 18, 2023, and is serving an administrative sentence, which has been extended for the fifth consecutive time.
Prisoner Muhammad Shamasneh, 56, from Qatna, Quds, has been suffering from sclerotis for a full year. He received treatment in November of last year, but did not improve. He also received treatment in January of this year, but to no avail. In April of this year, he received treatment for the third time and no longer suffers from any itching. However, he continues to complain of boils and asked the prison clinic for antibiotics to treat them, but they refused to give him them.
It should be noted that the prisoner has been detained since November 12, 1993, and has been sentenced to three life sentences. Twenty-five years.
