Gaza – SABA:
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has warned that thousands of Palestinian infants in Gaza are not receiving the nutrition they need and face imminent risk of death, stressing that “every minute counts to save lives.”
In a post published Monday on X (formerly Twitter), UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell described the situation in Gaza as catastrophic.
Russell stated that many Palestinian mothers have been killed in Israeli airstrikes, while others are unable to breastfeed due to severe malnutrition caused by Israel’s ongoing siege of the Gaza Strip.
She noted that many infants are now at risk of death or permanent health complications as a result.
Since March 2, Israel has completely closed Gaza’s border crossings to humanitarian aid and supplies, pushing 2.4 million Palestinians into famine conditions.
Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has been subjected to what has been described by multiple rights organizations and UN bodies as acts of genocide, including killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, in defiance of international appeals and orders by the International Court of Justice to stop.
