Brussels - Saba:
Former EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, stated that “American mercenaries” killed 550 Palestinians in Gaza within a single month, accusing the Council of Europe and the European Commission of remaining silent in the face of these events.
In a post on his X platform account on Thursday evening, Borrell wrote:
"In one month, 550 starving Palestinians were killed by American mercenaries while trying to access food at distribution points set up by the U.S.- and Israel-backed ‘Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.’"
He described the situation as “horrific.”
Borrell tagged the Council of Europe and the European Commission in his post, accusing them of lacking the will to act “against the crimes being committed in Gaza.”
Since May 27, and outside the supervision of the United Nations and international organizations, the Zionist entity and the United States have been implementing a limited aid distribution plan through what is known as the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.” Starving Palestinians are forced to choose between dying of hunger or being shot by occupation forces. As of Thursday afternoon, the death toll had reached 652, with over 4,537 injured, according to the latest update from Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
It is worth noting that Spanish politician Josep Borrell has adopted a stance and rhetoric distinct from that of the European Union leadership regarding the Zionist entity since the beginning of its genocide on October 7, 2023.
Borrell had attempted to unify EU member states in condemning the Zionist entity's violations of international law and calling for a ceasefire. He also sharply criticized the European Commission under Ursula von der Leyen.
He officially handed over his position to his successor, Kaja Kallas, on December 1, 2024.
