Sana'a - Saba:
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, represented by the General Directorate of Animal Health and Veterinary Quarantine and the General Directorate for Livestock Development, on Monday launched the National Awareness and Guidance Program to protect poultry farms and hatcheries from diseases and epidemics.
The program targets both small and large broiler producers, hatchery owners, and parent farms. It focuses on three main pillars: enhancing biosecurity, veterinary vaccinations and healthcare; addressing nutritional aspects, feed and water quality; and improving hatchery management to boost overall quality and ensure biosecurity.
During the launch, Dr. Radwan al-Rubaie, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, explained that this initiative aims to strengthen the capabilities of breeders and producers. The program seeks to reduce losses and mitigate disease risks threatening this vital sector, thereby contributing to enhanced food security and a gradual move towards self-sufficiency in poultry products.
The Minister affirmed the Ministry's commitment to developing the animal production system and improving performance across all stages, including health, nutritional, and technical oversight, to ensure safe, high-quality products that contribute to national food security.
For their part, Dr. Ahmed al-Qaddari, Director of Animal Health and Veterinary Quarantine, and Dr. Abdulaziz al-Junaid, Director of Livestock Development, emphasized the importance of breeders adhering to health standards and practices. They noted that a plan for periodic monitoring is in place to ensure compliance with these regulations.
