Tehran - Saba:
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei stressed in a press conference that the IAEA must act beyond a political approach.
Iran's Tasnim News Agency quoted Baghaei as saying on Monday, during his weekly press conference with members of the media, regarding the suspension of cooperation with the IAEA and the behavior of its Director General, Rafael Grossi: "The agency is an international entity with clear mandates, and the Director General's mandate is also defined and known. What we have demanded is that the Director General work within the scope of his technical duties and not be influenced by some members of the agency."
He added, "The approach of the three European countries over the past two decades to pressure Iran is clear, and our constant demand is for the agency to operate independently of political positions. The agency's latest report was inappropriate and became the basis for a political decision by the Board of Governors. We have raised the issue and are following up on it, but this should not make us forget the fundamental issue, which is that the Zionist entity and the United States committed an illegal act."
He pointed out that what happened was a clear act of aggression, and Iran's primary demand today is for the aggressor to be identified. The aggressor is known, and the Security Council must acknowledge this fact.
Regarding the German Interior Minister's visit to the occupied Palestinian territories, the spokesman said: "The stance adopted by Germany and France regarding the Zionist entity's aggression against Iran is unacceptable. Especially the statements issued by German officials, which represent a historic partnership with this entity, portray the blatant aggression as a 'despicable act.' Everyone knows what this word means, and I never imagined that the German Chancellery would use phrases that were used to justify Hitler's actions. They should explain why they are using this kind of rhetoric, because for the Iranians it is like pouring salt on the wound."
Baqaei added: "These positions are unacceptable and condemnable, and they show that some European countries have put the reputation of the entire European Union at risk."
