Al-Quds – Saba:
The Palestinian Olympic Committee announced on Saturday that 13 Palestinian athletes have been martyred so far this month, as a result of the ongoing brutal Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, which began on October 7, 2023.
The Palestinian Olympic Committee said in a statement that the number of martyrs from the sports, youth, and scouting movement has risen to approximately 615, out of more than 56,000 martyrs and more than 150,000 wounded, in a flagrant violation of all international, sporting, and humanitarian conventions and values, according to the official Palestinian News Agency.
The Olympic Committee explained that among the 13 martyrs killed this June are eight football players and an administrative staff member, two volleyball players, a handball player, and a Muay Thai player.
It indicated that the football martyrs were: Mohammed Abdul-Moneim al-Ja'bari, Imad Yousef Yousef al-Samhouri (administrator), Muhammad Mahmoud Abdul-Majid Yassin, Mustafa Mait, Abdullah Mazen Ahmed Huwaila, Ayman Jumaa Abdul-Muati al-Hams, Muhammad Mahmoud Abdul-Majid Yassin, and Yusef Ayman al-Najjar.
As for the Palestinian volleyball players, Abdulkarim al-Namnam and Ahmed Muhammad Mahmoud al-Mufti were martyred. Karate player Ayman Totah, Muay Thai player Ammar Hamayel, and handball player Muhammad Hussein Abdullah al-Nashar were also martyred.
The Palestinian Olympic Committee confirmed that these athletes were martyred due to the brutal bombing and during the aid lines.
It noted that each of these martyrs had a dream, but the Israeli enemy assassinated them and their dreams, which were similar to those of their counterparts around the world: achieving a title, honorably representing the national team, and writing their names in the annals of sports heroes.
