Sana'a - (Saba):

The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning has forecast variable thunderstorms, hot weather, and active to strong winds that will cause rough seas over the next 24 hours.

The center reported in its weather bulletin that rainfall of varying intensity, accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional hail, is expected in parts of the governorates of Saada, Amran,Mahwit, Sana'a, Dhamar, Ibb, Dhale'a, and Taiz.

Scattered rain is also expected in parts of the governorates of Hajjah and Raymah, the highlands of Lahj, Abyan, Shabwa, and the Socotra Archipelago.

The weather is likely to be hot to extremely hot in the deserts, inland plateaus, and coastal plains, with maximum temperatures ranging between 38-43°C. In coastal areas, maximum temperatures will range between 35-40°C.

The center indicated the possibility of active to strong winds on the Socotra Archipelago and the eastern coasts, ranging in speed from 30 to 40 knots, and moderate winds on the southern and western coasts and the Gulf of Aden, ranging in speed from 15 to 25 knots.

The amount of rainfall over the past 24 hours, measured at meteorological stations in Mahwit, was 94.6 mm, Dhamar: 22.0 mm, Hajjah: 18.8 mm, and Ibb-As-Saddah: 2.0 mm.

Scattered thunderstorms fell on parts of the governorates of Saada, Amran, Sana'a, Raymah, Taiz, Abyan, but these were outside the stations' range.

The center warned citizens in mountainous areas where rainfall is expected to occur of thunderstorms and to avoid crossing or entering floodwaters during and after the rainfall.

It also warned of hot to extremely hot weather in deserts, inland plateaus, plains, and coastal areas, and advised against direct exposure to the sun during the afternoon.

The center also warned seagoers, fishermen, and ship captains in the Socotra Archipelago, the eastern Gulf of Aden, and the southern and eastern coasts of high waves and rough seas.
