Gaza - Saba:
The Palestinian Journalists' Protection Committee (PJPC) stated on Sunday that the repeated Israeli attacks on the journalists' camp near the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, constitute a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.
In a statement, the center reported that Israeli military operations in southern and central Khan Younis have resulted in gunfire and missile shrapnel hitting the journalists' tents, forcing a large number of them to evacuate the camp under dangerous conditions.
The committee explained that the camp consists of 38 media tents, serving around 280 journalists, most of whom reside near the medical complex to continue their on-ground coverage of events.
The center noted that the escalation of Israeli attacks has forced many media institutions to evacuate their locations, restricting journalists' ability to perform their duties and endangering their safety.
It emphasized that these violations represent a clear breach of international humanitarian law, which mandates the protection of journalists as civilians during armed conflicts and criminalizes targeting them or media infrastructure.
