OCHA: "Israel" displaced 680 Palestinians in West Bank in 2025 due to home demolitions
[Sat, 21 Jun 2025 16:11:06 +0300]

Occupied al-Quds – Saba:

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) revealed that more than 680 Palestinians were displaced in 2025 due to home demolitions in the occupied West Bank.

The office said in a report published Saturday: "More than 680 Palestinians were displaced in 2025 due to the demolition of their homes, on the pretext of lacking building permits issued by the Israeli authorities in Area C. This is more than double the number during the same period in 2024, when approximately 300 people were displaced."

It reported that Israeli forces continue to carry out mass demolitions in the Tulkarm and Nur Shams refugee camps, as well as in Jenin camp, according to the Palestinian Safa News Agency.

The office added that since June 1, the Israeli enemy has demolished more than Less than 37 of the 58 structures in Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps have been issued with Israeli demolition orders, according to estimates from partner organizations based on local sources.

It continued, "The camps remain closed to their residents and humanitarian actors, making it impossible to accurately assess the damage."

The office noted that on June 9, Israeli authorities issued demolition orders for approximately 96 structures, most of which were residential, in Jenin camp. More than 280 affected families were given a 72-hour deadline to coordinate the recovery of their personal belongings from their homes before their homes were demolished.

It noted that, according to Palestinian sources, at least 400 requests have been submitted to Israeli authorities to allow families to retrieve their belongings, but no family has been able to access their homes since then.

OCHA stated, "Since June 10, Israeli forces have intensified their operations across the northern West Bank, particularly in the cities of Nablus and Jenin, and in the Askar and Balata refugee camps in Nablus, imposing movement restrictions and causing widespread damage."

It stated that since the beginning of the military escalation between Israel and Iran on June 13, Israeli forces have continued to tighten restrictions on movement into and within the West Bank, particularly during the first few days of the escalation.

It reported that the enemy forces have completely closed major checkpoints on vital roads, such as Jaba' checkpoint north of al-Quds and Sarra checkpoint in the Nablus governorate.

The UN report indicated that 303 Palestinians have been injured by settler attacks since the beginning of the year.
