Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei sent a strongly worded message via the X platform to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi, accusing him of "betraying the nuclear non-proliferation regime" and turning the agency into a "partner in the unjust and aggressive war against Iran."
According to Tasnim News Agency, Baghaei said on Thursday: "Mr. Grossi, you have betrayed the non-proliferation regime and turned the IAEA into a tool in the hands of states that are not committed to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to deny the fundamental rights of member states in accordance with Article IV of the treaty."
Commenting on Grossi's statement that "the agency has not detected any evidence of a systematic attempt by Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon," the Iranian spokesman considered this "admission too late," accusing Grossi of concealing this fact in his "biased" report, which paved the way for a resolution against Iran by the United States and three European countries.
This resolution was later used as a pretext by "an occupying entity and a war criminal to launch an illegal aggression against Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities."
He added, "Do you know how many innocent Iranians have been killed or injured as a result of this criminal war? Is this the standard by which an international official who is supposed to lead a UN organization should be judged?"
The spokesman concluded his statement by saying, "Misleading narratives have devastating consequences, and you must bear responsibility for them. Is there any conscience left?"
