Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Thursday called on Jews around the world to restrain Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, labeling him a war criminal wanted by international justice, amid ongoing Israeli aggression against Iran since last Friday.
In a televised statement, Maduro addressed Jews globally, including those “living in the occupied Palestinian territories or within Israel’s borders”, saying:
“I make an appeal to the Jewish people across the world: You must stop the war. You must stop Netanyahu and put an end to this hellish madness of war with all neighboring countries — this madness of seeking to invade the entire Middle East and West Asia.”
Maduro accused Netanyahu’s government of igniting multiple wars in recent years, including:
- The ongoing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza for the past 21 months,
- The 2024 war on Lebanon,
- The seizure of new territory in Syria,
- And continuous attacks on Yemen.
He recalled that on November 21, 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu over war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza.
Backed by the U.S. and Europe, Israel has been waging a genocidal war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in at least:
- 55,706 Palestinian deaths, mostly women and children,
- And 130,101 injuries, with thousands still trapped under rubble or in unreachable areas.
Since last Friday, the Israeli regime — with U.S. support — has escalated its aggression on Iran, targeting nuclear facilities, missile bases, and assassinating military leaders and nuclear scientists, as well as killing civilians.
Tehran has responded with ballistic missile and drone strikes, targeting Israeli military infrastructure.
