The fifth annual environmental awareness campaign, coinciding with the Eid al-Adha holiday, was launched on Saturday in Hodeida governorate.
Implemented by the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund through its Environmental Media, Awareness, and Education Department, the campaign operates under the slogan "Our Cleanliness Makes Our Holidays Eminent." Its goal is to foster positive environmental behaviors, raise awareness about improper waste disposal, encourage sound practices in homes and public spaces, and boost community participation in cleanliness efforts.
Abdulnasser al-Sharif, Executive Director of the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund, stated that the Media and Awareness Department is crucial for building sustainable environmental awareness, and this campaign extends the Fund's annual efforts to promote a culture of cleanliness and community cooperation.
He noted that this year's campaign specifically focuses on direct interaction with citizens in parks and public places, delivering creative and interactive awareness messages.
Mohammed Al-Sakani, Director of the Media, Awareness, and Environmental Education Department, highlighted the campaign as an ongoing call for all community members to actively participate in environmental protection, viewing it as an investment in future generations. He praised the campaign's growing response each year, emphasizing that environmental preservation is a collective responsibility.
The campaign aims to deliver direct messages through brochures, interactive events in parks, and the Fund's media platforms.
Sherihan Makrad, Deputy Director of the department, commended community engagement, noting its importance in instilling environmental values in youth and enhancing collective responsibility. She stressed that current environmental challenges demand concerted efforts from all agencies, affirming the department's commitment to continuous fieldwork and media outreach to achieve a clean and healthy environment, with efforts continuing throughout Eid and the year.
