Hodeidah – SABA:
The General Corporation for Slaughterhouses and Meat Markets in Hodeidah Governorate launched a field awareness campaign today focusing on the guidelines for Eid al-Adha sacrifices and proper slaughtering practices, as part of early preparations for the upcoming holiday.
The campaign, which began at the central Al-Mujallab market in Hodeidah city, targets livestock sellers, market-goers, and livestock transport drivers from various districts across the governorate. It is part of a broader plan to cover all markets through the corporation’s branch managers in the districts.
Abdullah Al-Sharif, Director General of the Slaughterhouses Corporation, explained that the campaign includes the distribution of educational posters detailing the religious and health conditions for sacrifices, permissible animal age, and information about official slaughterhouse locations and their operating hours. The goal is to raise public awareness and ensure safe and proper slaughtering.
He noted that the campaign is part of the corporation’s strategy to strengthen oversight of livestock markets and encourage citizens to use licensed slaughterhouses to ensure meat quality and protect public health.
Al-Sharif also confirmed that the campaign is accompanied by strict monitoring procedures, particularly targeting the sale and slaughter of underage or female animals, due to the negative impact on the livestock population.
Field teams from the corporation are conducting awareness and supervision activities in markets across the governorate, emphasizing the prohibition of slaughtering animals that do not meet the sacrificial criteria. These efforts aim to protect the livestock sector and preserve its reproductive cycle.
He called on citizens to cooperate with field teams and adhere to the health and religious guidelines, affirming that the corporation will continue its oversight and awareness programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and well-organized Eid al-Adha season.
