China successfully launched a Long March-4B carrier rocket on Thursday, placing a new Shijian-26 satellite into space.
According to the Chinese news agency Xinhua, the carrier rocket was launched at 12:12 p.m. (Beijing time) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.
The satellite is primarily used for national land surveying, environmental management, and other fields, providing information services to support national economic development.
This is the 579th mission for the Long March carrier rocket series.
