Abuja - Saba:
Nigerian authorities announced on Friday that at least 21 people have died as a result of heavy rains hitting the north-central part of the country.
The local emergency agency in Nigeria reported that no fewer than 21 people were killed in Niger State, north-central Nigeria, when torrential rains destroyed their houses, while nearly 12 others remain missing.
Ibrahim Husseini, head of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, confirmed that floodwaters submerged 50 houses in two areas of the state. He added that 21 bodies have been recovered so far, while more than 12 people are still missing as search and rescue operations continue.
