The newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" said that Spain is leading an organized campaign to push the European Union to exclude "Israel" from all European sports competitions, similar to what happened with Russia, after it launched a military war in Ukraine in 2022.
The Spanish newspaper indicated today, Friday, that Spanish Sports Minister Bella Alegria, 47, announced that her country is ready, along with the European Union, to start discussions about excluding "Israel" from all sports, continental and international tournaments.
Minister Alegria emphasized that the European Union countries agreed to exclude Russia from sports championships, most notably the Olympic Games, which were held in the French capital Paris in the summer of 2024, due to the military invasion of Ukraine in 2022, calling on the International Olympic Committee to take the initiative and not wait for political governments to issue their decisions.
Mundo Deportivo concluded its report that the Spanish Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sport wants all international and European sports bodies to move during the coming period, and not wait for politicians to take action against Israel, which continues to violate human rights and commit massacres against innocent people in the Gaza Strip, since October 7, 2023.
