Head of Field Hospitals: Northern Gaza completely deprived of medical services
[Thu, 22 May 2025 22:57:20 +0300]

Gaza - Saba:
Dr. Marwan Al-Hams, head of the field hospitals in the Gaza Strip, confirmed that the Zionist enemy has carried out a systematic campaign targeting the health infrastructure in Gaza City and the northern part of the Strip, resulting in nearly 90% of medical facilities being completely out of service.

In press statements on Thursday, Al-Hams explained that the northern Gaza governorate has completely stopped receiving any medical services after hospitals and health centers were subjected to direct and repeated targeting—the latest being Al-Awda Hospital, which was the last medical facility providing emergency services to residents in the devastated area. He emphasized that this strategy is part of a clear policy to annihilate the humanitarian sector and forcibly displace the population.

He added, "Targeting Al-Awda Hospital effectively means the complete collapse of the healthcare sector in the region, at a time when tens of thousands of patients and wounded are suffering from a lack of healthcare amid severe shortages of medicine and equipment, and a total absence of a safe treatment environment."

Al-Hams noted that this policy is not random but rather part of a deliberate Israeli plan to empty the northern Gaza Strip of its residents by destroying the essentials of life, primarily the health sector, which is the last refuge for civilians trapped under bombardment, siege, and starvation.

He stressed that the continuation of this policy will lead to an unprecedented health and humanitarian catastrophe, especially given the absence of functioning hospitals, the collapse of ambulance services, and the difficulty of transferring patients and the wounded to other areas due to continuous shelling and the lack of safe routes.

Al-Hams called on the international community, humanitarian organizations, and human rights groups to urgently intervene to halt this systematic destruction , protect the remaining medical personnel and health facilities. He affirmed that targeting hospitals and healthcare workers constitutes a full-fledged war crime under international law.

Concluding his remarks, he emphasized, "What is happening is not only a blatant violation of human rights but also the practical implementation of a policy of genocide, in which the enemy uses tools of killing, starvation, and deprivation of treatment to force civilians into one choice: fleeing their land."
