The Palestinian NGO Network launched an urgent appeal to the international community, calling for immediate intervention to save "Al-Awda Hospital" located in the Tel Al-Zaatar area, which is facing the risk of complete destruction as a result of direct shelling by the Zionist enemy that caused a large fire inside it.
In a press release on Thursday, the network confirmed that enemy forces directly targeted the hospital's medicine and fuel stores, which led to the outbreak of a massive fire that is still ongoing, amid the prevention of civil defense crews from reaching the site, which threatens the hospital to be completely out of service.
The network warned against repeating the scenario of disrupting health facilities in the northern Gaza Strip, noting that the fire spread to the fuel and water tanks, causing serious damage to the hospital's structure and equipment.
The statement added that enemy forces continue to surround the hospital with their tanks and prevent staff and volunteers from dealing with the fire, while about 130 staff and volunteers are inside the hospital, in addition to dozens of patients.
The network of Palestinian NGOs called on international and human rights organizations to take urgent action to protect al-Awda Hospital, ensure the safety of its staff and patients, provide safe passage for civil defense crews, and work to protect what remains of the health sector in Gaza from complete collapse.
