Zionist enemy transfers released Palestinian prisoner al-Jaghoub to administrative detention

Zionist enemy transfers released Palestinian prisoner al-Jaghoub to administrative detention

Ramallah - Saba:

The Commission of Prisoners' Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners' Club stated that the Zionist enemy issued an administrative detention order against prisoner Wael al-Jaghoub (58 years old) from Nablus, for a period of five and a half months.

Al-Jaghoub was among those released in batches as part of the "ceasefire agreement" on the Gaza Strip, which took place in January and February 2025.

The Commission and the Club explained in a joint statement, Sunday evening, that prisoner al-Jaghoub was arrested on May 6 and subjected to interrogation. The Zionist authorities subsequently extended his detention for 144 hours, and today issued an administrative detention order against him.

It is noteworthy that the number of arrests among the released prisoners released as part of the "ceasefire" batches reached (12), of whom the Zionist enemy maintained their detention, and five of whom were transferred to administrative detention.

The Commission and the Club stated that "the policy of re-arresting released prisoners, although not a new one, constitutes a clear violation of the previously concluded release deals. It is a dangerous matter and serves as an indicator and a message from the enemy to all released prisoners that they are a constant target for arrest."

They added that "targeting former and released prisoners constitutes one of the most prominent systematic policies employed by the enemy historically and continues to be.

Since the beginning of the genocide, the enemy has escalated its targeting of former prisoners as part of its daily arrest campaigns, which peaked at the beginning of the war.

The number of daily arrests in the West Bank since the beginning of the genocide has reached more than 17,100, in addition to thousands in Gaza."

It's worth noting that prisoner al-Jaghoub was born on May 23, 1967, and became involved in the struggle early on. In 1992, he was arrested and sentenced by the enemy to six years in prison.

He continued his struggle, and with the outbreak of the Second Intifada, his role in the struggle became more prominent. On May 1, 2001, he was arrested by the enemy, where he was subjected to harsh and lengthy interrogations. He was later sentenced to life imprisonment.

During his years of captivity, al-Jaghoub was subjected to solitary confinement several times, the last of which was two years ago. The Israeli prison administration deliberately isolates active prisoners from their comrades due to their influence on the reality of the confrontation and their ability to spread awareness. As a result of this isolation, he was denied visits for years.
