Brussels – Saba:
European Council President António Costa has expressed his shock at the daily reports of attacks from Gaza, calling on Israel to lift the blockade urgently.
Costa said in a statement published on Saturday, "The daily reports from Gaza have shocked me. Civilians are dying of hunger, and hospitals are being bombed repeatedly. The violence must stop!"
He added, "The Israeli government must lift the blockade immediately and ensure safe, rapid, and unhindered access for humanitarian aid."
Costa continued, "An entire population is being subjected to disproportionate military force, and international law is being systematically violated."
He emphasized that a sustainable ceasefire and the immediate and unconditional release of all prisoners are more urgent than ever.
Over the past five days, Israel has intensified its genocidal campaign in the Gaza Strip, committing dozens of horrific massacres.
During Trump's three-day tour of the region, which he departed from the UAE on the fourth day, the Israeli enemy killed more than 378 Palestinians. This is a toll nearly four times the number of victims during the previous four days, which amounted to nearly 100 martyrs, according to data compiled by Anadolu Agency from the Gaza Ministry of Health.
The Israeli enemy has been besieging Gaza for 18 years, and approximately 1.5 million Palestinians, out of a population of approximately 2.4 million, have been rendered homeless after their homes were destroyed by the genocide. The Gaza Strip is suffering from a severe famine due to the enemy's closure of the crossings to humanitarian aid.
With full American support, the Israeli enemy has been committing genocidal crimes in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving approximately 173,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 14,000 missing.
