Tehran – Saba:
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Thursday that if the United States had been able to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities, it would not have entered into negotiations.
In a statement to reporters during his visit to a book fair in the Iranian capital, Tehran, regarding indirect negotiations with the United States, Araqchi explained that Iran, relying on its military capabilities, forced the enemy to sit at the negotiating table, according to Tasnim News Agency.
He stated that Iran's defensive and missile power gives the Iranian negotiator negotiating power because it deters the other party from any military adventure.
The UN official continued: "If the Americans were able to bring Iran to its knees through sanctions, they would have continued with them and would not have negotiated with us."
He pointed out that if the United States had been confident that maximum pressure would bring Iran to its knees within six months, it would not have resorted to dialogue.
The Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized that the sanctions have exhausted the Iranian people but have not subdued them.
