Paris - Saba:
French President Emmanuel Macron called on the European Union to increase pressure on "Israel" to halt its war on Gaza Strip.
The American news agency Bloomberg reported on Wednesday that Macron stated the question of "whether to continue discussions and cooperation agreements with 'Israel' as they are" remains an issue for Europeans to consider.
Macron referenced recent remarks by the Dutch government, which called for a collective reassessment of the EU’s trade relations with "Israel."
Responding to a viewer’s question about why France has not imposed sanctions on "Israel," the French president said, "We cannot pretend nothing has happened, so yes, we will have to step up pressure on these issues."
However, Macron noted that only the United States is capable of making a real difference on the ground, "by setting conditions on its military aid to 'Israel.'"
On March 18, the occupation forces resumed their military operations in Gaza Strip, ending a two-month truce that had begun in January under Egyptian-Qatari-American mediation. Since then, they have carried out intensive airstrikes and fire belts across several areas in Gaza.
