Istanbul - (Saba):
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced on Wednesday that Russia-Ukraine negotiations will be held tomorrow in Istanbul at the level of agencies and delegations.
In an exclusive interview with the Turkish state-run TRT channel, Fidan said: "The talks between Russia and Ukraine will be at the level of agencies and delegations, and will be held in Istanbul... but the format of the talks has not yet been clarified, and there is intensive diplomatic communication on the matter."
He continued, saying: "The Russian and American delegations will come to Istanbul... As for the Ukrainian delegation, I will speak with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister."
Meanwhile, the Kremlin announced that the Russian delegation is waiting to meet the Ukrainian delegation in Istanbul tomorrow, Thursday, to conduct negotiations, without announcing the composition of the Russian delegation participating in the negotiations.
Last Sunday, President Putin addressed representatives of Russian and international media outlets, proposing to Ukraine to resume direct negotiations without preconditions in Istanbul on May 15, and affirming that he does not rule out a genuine ceasefire to which Kyiv would adhere.
For his part, US President Donald Trump called on the authorities in Kyiv to "immediately" accept Putin's proposal to hold talks in Türkiye. Trump said such talks would "at least determine whether a deal is possible."
