Rome - (Saba):

World number three Carlos Alcaraz of Spain advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's singles competition at the Rome Masters, a 1000-point tournament.

On Tuesday, Alcaraz achieved a marathon victory over Russia's Karen Khachanov, ranked 23rd, in two sets to one (6-3, 3-6, 7-5) in the round of 16 of the tournament, held on clay courts in the Italian capital.

Britain's Jack Draper, ranked fifth in the tournament, also advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating France's Corentin Moutet in two sets to one (1-6, 6-4, 6-3).
