New Delhi - (Saba):
India announced on Monday the reopening of 32 airports in the north and west of the country, which had been closed due to tensions with Pakistan.

Indian media reported that "the Airports Authority of India and the relevant aviation authorities have issued a Notice to Airmen to reopen 32 airports in the northern and western parts of the country, which had been closed to civilian flights amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan."

Indian media reported that the Notice to Airmen will be issued based on instructions from the Indian Air Force. Amid escalating tensions with Pakistan, authorities in the country have closed 32 of its 487 airports.

Indian Defense Ministry spokesman Lt. Col. Sunil Barthwal said on Monday that "the night passed peacefully along the Line of Contact between India and Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir, with no reported incidents."

Barthwal added, "There were no reports of any incidents. This is the first quiet night in recent days."
