Gaza - Saba:
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor revealed that the Israeli occupation army has killed an average of 21.3 women per day in direct bombardment of the Gaza Strip since it began committing genocide in October 2023.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Monitor added that this figure means approximately one Palestinian woman is killed every hour, not counting other women who have died due to crimes of siege, starvation, and deprivation of medical care—cases not documented in official statistics.
The Monitor explained that the shocking and unprecedented rates of female fatalities in Gaza reflect a systematic pattern of mass killings deliberately targeting Palestinian women, particularly mothers, whether in their houses, displacement tents, temporary shelters, or while trying to save their children under bombardment.
It stressed that the daily pattern of repeated and high-intensity targeting confirms that "Israel" is using the killing of Palestinian women in Gaza as a tool of demographic destruction within its genocidal campaign under international law.
The Monitor added that field data reveals a systematic pattern of killing pregnant women and young mothers alongside their children or while attempting to care for and protect their families—a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and a practice that directly threatens the future of Palestine’s demographic fabric.
Its field team documented the deaths of thousands of women, many of childbearing age, including thousands of mothers killed with their children inside their houses, displacement tents, shelters, or while fleeing in search of safety.
Meanwhile, official health reports confirm that 12,400 Palestinian women have been killed during the 582 days of genocide in Gaza.
The Euro-Med Monitor emphasized that data indicates an unprecedented rise in the killing of mothers, pregnant women, and breastfeeding women due to direct Israeli bombardment.
The Monitor noted that Israeli targeting is not limited to killings; 60,000 pregnant women—according to Health Ministry data—are currently suffering from dire conditions due to malnutrition, starvation, lack of adequate healthcare, exacerbated by the tightened siege and blockade of goods and aid since early March.
It warned that the killing of Palestinian women and mothers, especially pregnant women, is part of a clear pattern of forced birth prevention—a key element of genocide under Article II(d) of the 1948 Genocide Convention, which considers "imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group" an act of genocide.
The Monitor explained that this prevention takes multiple forms in Gaza today, including:
- Direct killing of women of reproductive age,
- Targeting pregnant mothers,
- Destroying healthcare infrastructure for childbirth and maternal/childcare,
- Blocking essential medicines and medical supplies for pregnant women,
- Starving mothers , depriving them and their infants of necessary nutrition, leading to slow deaths and severe health complications.
The Monitor called for the execution of arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against the Israeli Prime Minister and his Defense Minister at the first opportunity, ensuring their surrender to international justice without violating the principle of no immunity for international crimes.
It urged the international community to impose economic, diplomatic, and military sanctions on "Israel" for its systematic and grave violations of international law, including banning arms exports to or purchases from Israel , halting all forms of political, financial, and military support.
Additionally, it demanded the freezing of financial assets of officials involved in or inciting crimes against Palestinians, imposing travel bans on them, suspending trade privileges and bilateral agreements that grant Israel economic advantages enabling its continued crimes against Palestinians.
