Geneva - Saba:
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has documented disturbing testimonies indicating that the Israeli army killed a young civilian in the Gaza Strip for refusing to cooperate with the Israeli intelligence service.
The Observatory said in a statement on Wednesday that the Israeli army directly targeted Mohammed Iyad Tabasi (24 years old), a cleaner at the field hospital in the town of Al-Zawaida in the central Gaza Strip, on Tuesday, with an Israeli drone strike near his displacement tent in the central Gaza Strip.
According to the martyr's family, for nearly a month prior to his targeting, the Israeli intelligence service had made several calls to Tabasi, requesting to communicate with him.
The Observatory quoted a family member (who requested anonymity for security reasons) as saying: “A month ago, Mohammed was contacted by a strange number. It wasn’t a Palestinian number. It was a man who said, ‘We want to help you with your marriage and give you money because we know your living conditions are difficult. Your father is unemployed, and you are providing for the house. Your job as a cleaner in the hospital doesn’t meet your family’s daily needs. We want you to cooperate with us and provide us with the information we request from you.’”
